The Gala del Premio Goya 2025, which takes place on Saturday in Granada, will report an impact of over 84 million euros on the city, with a full technical employment in a hotel in a city that has daily activities related to this cultural event, as highlighted by the mayor, Marifrán Carazo, on Monday.
In questions from journalists, Carazo emphasized the role of the Teatro Isabel in Católica as an «epicenter» of meetings taking place with the participation of film producers in Goya 2025, with the main dishes in the common programming prepared by the Academy of the OMS and the local council at the end.
It was noted on Saturday that the local Security Council took place last week for the special device, also ensuring «travel» and «traffic» after informing residents about «the impact on access to the Palacio de los Congresos,» the venue of the Gala in the surroundings of this Andalusian city.
There will also be a special cleaning collection device after the event, all of which, Carazo emphasized, is coordinated with the rest of the state security forces, given the large number of cultural personalities expected.
The preliminary impact study refers to employment in a hotel, with 90 percent of the 16,402 beds already reserved on February 8 for the 39th edition of the Goya Awards, which is expected to reach an average of 71 million euros with a total impact on the city’s economy of 84,590,416 euros.
Generation of 600 jobs
This preliminary economic impact study was carried out from the Direction of the Palacio de Congresos and Exposiciones in Granada, finding the significant impact of the ceremony in «activating the economy of Granada» with an economic impact of 84,590,416 euros and the generation of 600 jobs.
Additionally, the positive effects on the Granada brand are significant, as it has been found that since 2019, Goya «has seen a considerable increase in its media that positively impacts the generated performance.»
The Goya 2025 ceremony in Granada, the third Andalusian city to host the great night of Spanish cinema after Malaga (2020 and 2021) and Seville (2019 and 2023), will have a direct impact of 8,483,183 euros, with expenses incurred by the event organization totaling three million euros, to which 500,000 from sponsorship brands are added.
Furthermore, just the accommodation of the 3,100 personalities from the world of cinema, theater, music, academia, and technical staff will entail an impact of 489,459 euros, a forecast to which we must add 4,493,707 euros from the expenses incurred by the 28,461 tourists who will be in the city that weekend.
Impact on tourist accommodations
With the hotel occupancy at 90 percent, there will also be 20 percent of the 21,061 places that, according to data from the Junta de Andalucía, have a granada in households for tourist use.
The report also includes, in turn, in the head of the direct impact, an income to the public treasury of 3,623,743 euros from the net product of the product (882,249 euros); Income tax (1,738,148 euros); Social Security contributions (562,445 euros) and for Personal Income Tax (440,900 euros).
Within the induced values, among which are the media value, already mentioned, and the contingent value (a fictitious economic variable by which the hypothetical value granted by citizens and society is calculated in the case), an income of 1,483,507 euros is stipulated for the latter.
It also turns out that the impact of the Goya gala on the gross cultural product is 55.9 percent and 0.42 percent on the overall GDP in Granada.
