Obras del nuevo hospital de Málaga licitadas por 607,5 millones de euros

The Andalusian Health Service (SAS) has tendered the contracting of the works for the new hospital in Malaga and the concession of the works and operation of the parking lots through an open procedure for €607,515,932.53, with a 75-month execution period.
Interested companies can submit their bids to carry out this project, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of the 2021-2027 Framework, until July 22 of this year.
The Minister of Health and Consumption, Rocío Hernández, has stated that «the new hospital in Malaga is already a reality that cannot be turned back. With this new hospital complex, the health needs of a province that continues to grow in population are being addressed.» She added, «it is the response to the commitment and investment of the Government of Juanma Moreno in public health and in the province of Malaga.»
Precisely, on May 14, the Andalusian Regional Government Council set a new spending limit from 2026 to 2032 to allocate the necessary amount for the construction of this new hospital in Malaga, with the annual amounts for the years 2026 to 2029 being charged to European funds from the ERDF, 2021-2017, while the remaining annual amounts, from 2030 to 2032, €355 million, will be charged with credits from the self-financed service of the Andalusian Regional Government.
According to the Minister, the new hospital represents much more than the construction of a large healthcare building. It is a determined commitment of the Andalusian Regional Government -she emphasized- to profoundly transform the healthcare capacity of the province of Malaga and respond to the real needs of the population with a present and future vision.
This new infrastructure will allow a significant expansion of the number of beds, operating rooms, and consultations, resulting in a greater capacity for care, a reduction in waiting times, and a more agile and effective response to healthcare demand. Additionally, it will be a highly resolving and specialized hospital, equipped with state-of-the-art technology and high complexity units.
The future hospital center will have 815 rooms, an emergency area with 31 medical consultations, eight nursing consultations, and 61 observation beds. It will also have 80 ICU beds and a surgical block with 48 operating rooms. Regarding outpatient consultations, there will be 158 rooms for medical specialties and 38 for nursing, as well as a specific area dedicated to teaching and research.
The design of the new hospital has also been conceived from a humanization perspective. Each space has been designed to improve the patient experience and promote the well-being of families, incorporating criteria of comfort, accessibility, and closeness that reinforce the human dimension of care. From 2018 to 2024, the investment in healthcare infrastructure in the province of Malaga has reached €330 million, a 627% increase compared to the period 2011-2018.
