The President of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, has attended the groundbreaking ceremony for section 3 of Line 3 North of the Seville metro where he stated that these works are progressing with the goal of making this city more comfortable, livable, and sustainable.
Moreno has pointed out that the section from San Lázaro to La Macarena, from hospital to hospital, has received an investment of over 178 million euros and that it represents more than 60% of the entire Line 3 North under construction, with over half of the route and stations already being built.
He mentioned that the Macarena Hospital station will likely be one of the busiest on the future Line 3, a connection point with the future Circular Line 4. He emphasized that along Doctor Fedriani Avenue and San Juan de Ribera Street, up to the intersection with Muñoz León Street, already in the historic roundabout, this section goes through the underground of Seville that is known and traveled daily by thousands of people, residents, and tourists.
«We have arrived here after complex works that cut across neighborhoods, streams, and highways with high technical demands and developed at a constant pace. For those of us who are not familiar with engineering and these technical works, we can only imagine the difficulties, but when we see that the deadlines are scrupulously met, we know something, and that is that it is being done well,» he added.
The Andalusian President explained that the technical branch works have already been completed and that the works in the first and second sections are underway, within the neighborhoods of Pino Montano, with the surface station structure almost finished.
Furthermore, he noted that this is followed by works in Los Mares, Los Carteros, and San Lázaro, where one of the key interventions is about to begin, such as the diversion of the North Urban Ring Road and the tunnel that will cross it, trying at all times to make these works compatible with the normal daily life of the residents.
At this point, he recalled that two days ago, the citizen information office was opened in Macarena, at the San Fernando Civic Center, the second one to be operational in recent months. «We are holding meetings with merchants and residents, and studying alternative parking options. The best we can offer to residents is to meet the deadlines, and we are doing so with the commitment of the Junta, the central Government, and the City Council.»
Juanma Moreno greets the Mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz, in the presence of other authorities attending the event.
Moreno, who added that the metro will finally have a second line in operation after fifteen years of waiting since Line 1 was inaugurated, affirmed that with the start of Line 3 North, Macarena, San Lázaro, Los Mares, and Pino Montano will be much closer to everything and will be more accessible neighborhoods.
In this way, he emphasized that the future Macarena station will provide thousands of Sevillians with access to the hospital and that when the entire Line 3 is completed, it will reach the Valme Hospital.
In this sense, he stressed the importance that the Andalusian Government places on commitments, which involves dialogue and collaboration between administrations. «This project is an example of the best we can do from governments and institutions. Combining efforts with the City Council and the Central Government, pooling resources to advance a key infrastructure and achieve a complete metro network in Seville is the attitude and commitment we will maintain until the works are completed.»

The President of the Junta and the Mayor of Seville, along with residents of the Macarena neighborhood and municipal officials from the district.
In conclusion, he highlighted that the metro works will continue in the Macarena/Capuchinos, María Auxiliadora/Puerta Carmona, and Jardines de Murillo/Prado de San Sebastián sections, and their twelve stations will be built, crossing neighborhoods where more than 120,000 people live, with a forecast of over 16.7 million users in the year of service commencement.
«A project in which, from Pino Montano to Prado de San Sebastián, over 1.365 billion euros will have been invested, with 1.3 billion at 50% shared between the Junta and the Central Government, and an additional 65 million provided by the Andalusian Government for train purchases.» Furthermore, it is an operation declared of strategic importance in the Feder program in Andalusia 2021-2027.
The event was attended by the Minister of Development, Territorial Articulation, and Housing, Rocío Díaz; the Mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz; and the First Vice President of the Government and Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero.
