Moreno destaca el diálogo social como clave para abordar los principales asuntos de Andalucía.

The President of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, has highlighted the role of trade unions in the advancement and progress of Andalucía, while also stating that social dialogue is the keystone from which to address some of the main issues in Andalucía, something that has been a commitment of this Government from the beginning and an express mandate of the Statute of Autonomy of Andalucía from 2007.

Moreno, who attended the inauguration of the UGT Andalucía Congress in Granada, stated that this union, with its Secretary General, Óskar Martínez, at the helm, has been a leading player in many negotiations. «When days are spent negotiating at a table for the good of the people of Andalucía and when a conducive atmosphere is created through institutional loyalty and dialogue, a feeling of mutual respect, the foundation of the society we want to build, is better understood,» he added.

He pointed out that any modern society, any society that wants to progress and advance, needs social dialogue as a powerful instrument and recalled that in these six years, three major agreements have been reached, including the Economic and Social Reactivation agreement in July 2020; the Extraordinary Measures in March 2021, and the Social and Economic Pact for the Boost of Andalucía in March 2023.

He indicated that this pact is alive and has led to initiatives such as a Youth Employment Plan endowed with nearly 500 million euros, benefiting over 31,000 individuals, a New Strategy for Safety and Health at Work, and the Law on Institutional Participation of the most representative trade union and business organizations in Andalucía.

Moreno asserted that we are living in complex and difficult times where we must face pressures and temptations, therefore advocating for the defense of the freedom space that is the European Union, whose key, he said, «is democracy and where there have been significant advancements in various areas.»

In conclusion, he called for social unity in the face of uncertainty to defend basic values, dialogue, and respect for those who think or feel differently from us, as well as respect to build a more inclusive and positive society.

The event was attended by the Mayor of Granada, Marifrán Carazo; the Rector of the University of Granada, Pedro Mercado; the President of the CEA, Javier González de Lara, and the Secretary of CCOO Andalucía, Nuria López, among others.
