La Diputación de Granada lleva al pleno el nuevo plan de infraestructuras deportivas con tres millones de euros
The spokesperson for the government team of the Granada Provincial Council, Nicolás Navarro, together with the Sports and Sports Facilities Deputy, Eric Escobedo, has announced that the institution will bring the approval of the Provincial Plan for Investments in Sports Facilities (PIDE) 2025 to the next extraordinary session, which will have an initial budget of three million euros that can be expanded, depending on budget availability.
This PIDE aims to «support local entities in the province in the construction, modernization, and improvement of sports facilities, thus promoting physical activity in conditions of quality and safety,» as reported by the Granada Provincial Council in a press release.
Navarro has pointed out that «we know that each municipality has different needs, which is why we have designed a flexible program that adapts to the particularities of each locality. From the Provincial Council, we want no town to be left behind in accessing quality sports facilities, because we firmly believe that sports should be accessible to everyone.»
On the other hand, the Sports and Sports Facilities Deputy, Eric Escobedo, has indicated that «once again, we are making a clear and determined commitment for smaller municipalities to receive more funding, with the main objective of bringing sports closer to the citizens of the entire province, contributing to improving their quality of life.»
Furthermore, Escobedo has emphasized that «this new plan will be a fundamental tool for social cohesion, and we want all citizens of Granada, regardless of where they live, to have access to top-notch sports facilities.»
These grants are aimed at local entities with fewer than 30,000 inhabitants, who will be responsible for the drafting, contracting, and execution of the subsidized projects. Technical services related to the work (such as project drafting or project management) are included as eligible expenses, up to a maximum of eight percent of the project’s amount, although expenses related to expropriations are expressly excluded.
Municipalities with a population between 10,000 and 30,000 inhabitants can apply for grants for the construction of new sports facilities or the renovation of existing facilities, with the Provincial Council covering 50 percent of the project costs, with a maximum limit of 350,000 euros per project.
On the other hand, municipalities with fewer than 10,000 inhabitants can access two lines of grants. The first one is up to 150,000 euros and establishes a co-financing system that adjusts economic contributions to the demographic characteristics of each local entity. Thus, the smallest municipalities, with up to 500 inhabitants, will receive a 95 percent contribution from the Provincial Council, compared to five percent borne by the municipality, facilitating project implementation in areas with fewer resources. This financing scale progressively adjusts according to the municipality’s size, reaching an 80 percent contribution from the Provincial Council for localities between 5,001 and 9,998 inhabitants.
The second line, like in larger municipalities, has a maximum contribution of 350,000 euros per project, with the provincial institution providing 50 percent and the rest requested by the municipalities. This allows for the implementation of large projects in the smallest municipalities in the province. Finally, the third line includes a contribution from the Provincial Council of up to 500,000 euros for regional projects.
Interested municipalities will have 20 business days from the official publication of the call in the Official Gazette of the Province to submit their projects electronically. Aspects such as previous experience in the plan, execution of previous works, local planning, and, in the case of regional projects, technical justification and impact on the territory will be assessed.
