GRANADA, 18 (EUROPA PRESS)
Former Vox deputy in Congress Macarena Olona announced on Tuesday that she has formally filed a complaint for the incident that occurred on Monday during her participation in a public event at the Faculty of Law of the University of Granada (UGR). A group of about 25 people tried to prevent her from accessing the Auditorium, where the event had been scheduled, although she eventually gained access.
Olona outlined this on an official account on the social network ‘X’, consulted by Europa Press, where she has published part of the complaint, stating that she «will speak in court». «If we have had to jump a human barrier of totalitarianism to defend freedom, we will make sure that all the weight of the law falls on those responsible in front of Justice,» she added.
The former Vox deputy has criticized the UGR rector for «prohibiting police forces from entering the university campus, while allowing a group of hooded individuals to form a violent human barrier to prevent a colloquium from taking place at the Faculty of Law.»
All of this, «using guerrilla urban techniques identical to those seen in the judicial process against the Committees for the Defense of the Republic (CDR) of Catalonia: Hold the right flank,» she criticized. Faced with this situation, she explained that there were two options, «to retreat or to jump over it, but we chose to defend Freedom.»
The preventive measures of the National Police were taken to prevent altercations like those experienced two and a half years ago with Olona’s participation in a public event at the same location. On September 15, 2022, hundreds of people protested late in the afternoon against Olona’s presence, who also managed to access to give a conference despite a ‘harassment’ in which moments of tension and clashes between supporters and detractors of the State lawyer were experienced.
In this regard, Olona thanked the Security Forces and State for their intervention in the incident «as witnesses to a blatant crime». She celebrated that she did not end up beaten on the ground: «I was the target of the violent mob when they pulled me by my hair and tore part of my scalp.»
The former Vox deputy celebrated that the colloquium titled ‘Feminism and Law’, organized by ReGeneración, was able to take place. Additionally, she noted that although the «two members of the violent mob» were arrested and she ended up hospitalized, «the injuries that hurt me the most are those suffered by the members of the UIP device, one of them with a fracture.»
«Thank you for all the shows of affection. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. And thanks to the Security Forces and Bodies for protecting Democracy. Without any militancy other than Law and Order. They say that the Police are present in the 5-10 worst moments in people’s lives. This was one of the difficult ones, but it was worth it. Strength and honor,» she concluded.
ENTITIES’ REJECTION
The event had sparked the rejection of eleven entities, as disclosed through their social networks by the former candidate of Santiago Abascal’s party for the Andalusian Parliament, who entered the colloquium for its start at 6:00 p.m., with the presence of National Police officers at the entrances of this university center.
The poster for the event circulated on social media by Olona provoked the rejection of organizations such as the Permanent Student Assembly and the Trade Union Coordination of Workers of Andalusia. Furthermore, these organizations understood that these types of events «legitimize reactionary positions that directly attack LGBTI rights, women, and the working class.»
PROVISIONAL RELEASE FOR THE DETAINEES
The Court of Instruction number 2 of Granada, on duty in the afternoon of this Tuesday, has decreed provisional release for the two individuals arrested this past Monday for assaulting the authority after the blows received by the National Police officers deployed in prevention at the entrances of the Faculty of Law of the UGR, due to the participation of the former Vox deputy in Congress.
Judicial sources consulted by Europa Press detailed that the two detained men are under investigation for the alleged commission of crimes of assaulting the authority, injuries, and public disorder, with the judicial authority imposing a restraining order of at least 300 meters from Olona and three other individuals.
They are also obligated to appear before the court on the stipulated days and are prohibited from leaving the national territory, with the withdrawal of their passports, the same sources added.
