Formación sobre violencia de género a profesionales de servicios de empleo
The Department of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families, and Equality, through the Andalusian Institute for Women (IAM), has trained over 400 professionals in the field of gender-based violence from both regional and state employment services, as well as from municipal women’s centers in the provinces of Cadiz, Huelva, and Seville. The main objective of these training sessions is to improve the care provided to victims of gender-based violence by providing them with specialized resources that meet their needs, especially in the employment sector, to prevent re-victimization, and to strengthen coordination among different administrations.
These training sessions have involved personnel from the Andalusian Employment Service (SAE), the State Public Employment Service (SEPE), and the Municipal Women’s Information Centers (CMIM) in the cases of Cadiz and Huelva. The various workshops have analyzed the legislation on gender-based violence, focusing on the labor sphere, the accreditation of the victim status of gender-based violence, as well as the novelties and regulatory changes in employment benefits.
Information has also been provided on the distinctive characteristics of violence against women, such as its origins, execution mechanisms, and consequences, with the aim of helping public personnel understand the behaviors of victims and thus avoid re-victimization. Additionally, the resources of state and regional employment services, as well as those of the Andalusian Institute for Women, have been explained so that public employees are familiar with all programs for psychological care, legal advice, employment, and socio-economic assistance aimed at victims.
The Andalusian Institute for Women periodically conducts training sessions aimed at specialized personnel from women’s centers as well as professionals from different areas who may come into contact with victims of gender-based violence in order to advance in the prevention and early detection of new cases. So far this year, training has been provided on both partner-based gender violence and sexual violence to personnel from pharmacies, provincial and municipal women’s centers, as well as to the coordination team of American university students working with the US Consular Agency in Seville. In 2024, the IAM trained over 5,000 professionals from the judicial, educational, healthcare, security forces, lawyers, and Civil Protection sectors, among others.
