The President of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, has participated in the events marking the 140th anniversary of the birth of Blas Infante held in the municipality of Casares in Malaga. There, he stated that Andalusians share the rebellious spirit that Blas Infante asked of us, driving us towards a better, fairer, more equal, more conscious, and happier Andalusia, free from sectarianism and away from noise, fury, and scandal.
«Against violence, threats, corruption, and the fractures of old alliances, Andalusia offers security, stability, and sensibility. The Andalusia we have built together is an Andalusia without complexes, not settling for less.»
He indicated that we are undergoing a transformation process to generate wealth and employment, to care for our natural and cultural heritage, for the common welfare, and to ensure that Andalusians always enjoy the same treatment and opportunities as all other Spaniards, regardless of where they are from.
Moreno, who inaugurated the expansion of Blas Infante’s childhood home, considered it a success to have moved the traditional tribute by the Andalusian Parliament to Blas Infante to Casares on this anniversary of his birth, coinciding with the inauguration of the restructuring of his childhood home, which restores its original structure and presents a modern and accessible discourse.
He pointed out that this gathering in Casares connects the institutional and the popular, the official celebration and the civic celebration, uniting us in towns, squares, and streets under the white and green flag. «Blas Infante presented this flag in Ronda at the 1918 Assembly, and today we celebrate that this union between both locations via the A-397 is closer to being restored, as deadlines have been shortened, and next Monday one lane will reopen to partly resume traffic between Ronda and the Costa del Sol,» he added.
The Andalusian President stated that a way of feeling Andalusia was born in Casares, a sensitive, elevated, and tremendously compassionate and humane way of looking at the world from this community.

In this sense, he noted that when Andalusians speak, they do so thinking of everyone, especially when they ask for things for Andalusia that they also want for others. «No matter the issue, there is always an underlying essence of solidarity, empathy, and universality in what we say and feel. Blas Infante experienced this and taught us so.»
The Andalusian President emphasized that this way of feeling Andalusia involves a sense of commitment and responsibility, which, he said, is not incompatible with firmness in defending what is right for this land.
«Andalusia cannot remain silent when some territories are privileged over others. We have an obligation to defend fair and equitable treatment for Andalusians. Any government failing to do so would be betraying its utmost responsibility and obligation to defend the interests of Andalusia and its people,» he stated.

He underscored that as an Andalusian, a native of Malaga, and the President of Andalusia, he is proud of the legacy left by Blas Infante and that the Andalusianism he initiated, continued, and developed by other great men and women has shaped the ethical standard of our land.
In conclusion, he expressed gratitude to all Andalusians who make the dream of an Andalusia that knows what it wants and is progressing a reality, as well as to Casares and the descendants of Blas Infante for keeping his legacy alive and present.
The event was attended by the Mayor of Casares, Juan Luis Villalón; the Andalusian Government’s counselors; the President of the Andalusian Parliament, Jesús Aguirre; the spokespersons of the parliamentary political groups, and the President of the Blas Infante Foundation, Javier Delmás.
