The Department of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families, and Equality, through the Andalusian Institute for Women (IAM), has announced the grant for this year, in a non-competitive process, to trade unions for the legal advice and legal defense service for women in cases of gender-based workplace discrimination for this year. This aid program has a budget of 300,000 euros. Applications can be submitted from April 17 to May 2.
The call, published in the Official Gazette of the Andalusian Government (BOJA), aims to fund projects for the operation of a legal defense service for Andalusian women who experience any form of gender-based discrimination in the workplace or in any contentious area, including administrative, with the goal of providing information, advice, support, and intervention in the defense, including legal proceedings, of their rights, as well as the pursuit of real and effective equality between women and men throughout the Andalusian territory.
This service from the Andalusian Institute for Women addresses discrimination in access to employment, whether in the selection processes or in recruitment, in maintaining employment due to gender, wage discrimination due to pay differences in categories and professional classifications or bonuses, as well as in promotion and subjective criteria for promotions, or issues related to maternity and the balance of work, family, and personal life (dismissal, changes in substantial work conditions, violation of fundamental rights, reductions in working hours, leaves of absence, or breastfeeding).
Additionally, it also addresses cases of sexual harassment and moral harassment based on gender, the labor rights of victims of gender violence and women in feminized and precarious sectors, and the violation of any other rights of women that result in gender-based discrimination in the workplace.
Trade unions regulated by Organic Law 11/1985 of August 2 on trade union freedom, with a presence throughout Andalusia, as well as non-profit organizations that are linked and 100% owned by trade unions through which legal advice and defense of workers are provided, can access these grants.
In the resolution signed by the director of the Andalusian Institute for Women, Olga Carrión, it is established that the deadline for submitting applications is 15 calendar days from the day following the publication in the BOJA. Therefore, applications can be submitted from April 17 to May 2. The forms enabled for the application, allegations, acceptance, reformulation, and submission of documents can be obtained and submitted on the Electronic Headquarters of the Andalusian Institute for Women.
The implementation period of this grant will be from the date of the resolution granting it until the following 12 months, counted from the day after the resolution. Thus, the maximum period for submitting justification will be three months from the end date of the program’s execution. Additionally, the resolution establishes the advance payment of 50%, at most, of the grant amount, upon the signing of the resolution granting it, and the remaining 50% once the program’s compliance and total expenses are justified.
