Óscar Puente destaca el «esfuerzo inversor» del Gobierno en Granada.

The PSOE of Granada has begun its 27th Provincial Congress this Saturday with an inaugural event where the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, highlighted the government’s «investment effort» of 2.6 billion in the province of Granada, with projects such as the integration of the AVE, the Loja variant, and various roads.

Alongside the Secretary General of the PSOE of Granada and Government Delegate in Andalusia, Pedro Fernández, the minister stated, «We cannot take steps back or settle for the management carried out in the country because we must fight against the right on all fronts and win Andalusia.»

«This party is the only guarantee to continue progressing and the engine of development and progress in this land and in all towns,» he pointed out, emphasizing the value of María Jesús Montero and Pedro Fernández as the highest authorities of the regional and provincial PSOE.

The Paraninfo of the University of Granada in the PTS is hosting this gathering presided over by the Secretary General of the PSOE of Granada capital, Paco Cuenca, where Puente emphasized «the enormous investment effort that the Spanish Government will make in public works with an investment of 2.6 billion euros in the province for the present and upcoming years.»

The socialist reviewed the investments made by his department in railway matters and contrasted the 266 million tendered in 2024 for public works in Granada against the six million mobilized by the PP in 2017, stating that «for the first time, a government will break the immobilism of this city that requires a dignified railway integration in line with its surroundings.»

Referring to the months of work and technical commissions created to advance the station project, which will be tendered in June, he affirmed, «We will achieve this goal. In the month of April, we will have the definitive agreement.»

As a member of the Federal Executive Committee of the PSOE, he addressed the 350 delegates, former general secretaries of the PSOE, and representatives of the social and economic fabric and groups of the province, highlighting that it was the current government that ended the railway isolation suffered by Granada for almost four years in 2018 and introduced the AVE in 2019.

«We are currently working on the duplication of the track through the Loja Variant, in addition to the integration in the capital,» he added.

After reviewing some of the roadworks such as the future highway to Badajoz (GR-43) or the GR-30, and emphasizing that this government allocated 40 million to road infrastructures compared to the one million allocated by the PP seven years earlier, Puente criticized the «inaction» of the Junta and Juanma Moreno’s rejection of the debt forgiveness proposed by the Government of Spain.

INFORME DE GESTIÓN

In the morning session, where the provincial representatives of the UGT and CCOO unions, Luis Miguel Gutiérrez and Daniel Mesa, also participated, the management report of the Provincial Executive (2021 and 2025) was approved by acclamation, recognizing the work of Pepe Entrena and those who have accompanied him in recent years at the helm of the PSOE of Granada.

Entrena, who was applauded for his dedication and work during these years leading the PSOE of Granada, expressed his gratitude for the entrusted task and, emotionally, conveyed to the Granada militants, «you will always have a companion and a great friend here.»

In the afternoon, work commissions with the names ‘Engines of Economic Growth’, ‘Social Cohesion’, and ‘Territorial Cohesion’ will be held to discuss and approve the contributions made by the province’s militants to the framework document. In addition, provincial bodies will be elected, including the new Provincial Executive, among others.

The closing of the 27th Provincial Congress will be attended by the Secretary General of the PSOE of Andalusia and First Vice President of the Government of Spain and Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, and the new Secretary General of the PSOE of Granada, Pedro Fernández.
