Moreno inaugura centro de salud Los Pacos en Fuengirola tras 20 años de espera

The President of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, has attended the inauguration of the Los Pacos health center in Fuengirola, a citizen demand for over two decades that is now a reality and will serve a population of nearly 19,000 inhabitants, incorporating new services such as physiotherapy and rehabilitation, radiology, and dentistry.

Moreno has stated that the total investment, including equipment and staffing, has reached 6 million euros. Additionally, he revealed that the expansion of the Los Boliches health center is nearing completion.

He mentioned that on January 31st, the construction was completed, with only final touches remaining to start using the new spaces. «This represents another longstanding demand in Fuengirola where we are investing around 2 million euros, allowing, among other improvements, the addition of twelve new primary care consultations, bringing the total to thirty-six.»

Thus, he affirmed that, with the new Los Pacos health center and the expansion of Los Boliches, a significant ‘renovation operation’ has been carried out to enhance healthcare services in the locality, demonstrating the commitment of the Andalusian government to public health.

The Andalusian President emphasized that, between 2019 and 2024, the Andalusian government has invested over 330 million in improving healthcare infrastructure and new centers in the province of Málaga, a 627% increase from the 2011-2018 period. «We aim to conclude in the coming years a public healthcare map that determines the needs of this province for its present and future.»

He also mentioned that about 30 million has been invested solely in primary care infrastructures, plus another two million in equipment. It has been reported that 100% of all health districts in Málaga have been partially or fully upgraded, except for Málaga Guadalhorce, which has reached 91%.

Health Center and High Resolution Center in Palo, Málaga

Moreno also took part in the laying of the foundation stone for the new building of the Health Center and High Resolution Center in Palo, Málaga, with an investment of around 20 million euros.

«Today, we finally take a step forward, ending years of social and political debate and setting a horizon for this neighborhood’s aspiration, benefiting Rincón de la Victoria as well, complemented by the Third Hospital project, which will be tendered and awarded this year,» he added.

He highlighted that of the 65 healthcare infrastructures inaugurated in Andalusia since 2019, ten are in the province of Málaga, and over 32 million euros will be allocated to expand and enhance public health facilities in this city, launching new projects demanded by citizens.

He explained that this center will mark a before and after, aiming to make it more humane, capable, and efficient, resulting in a pioneering center combining primary and specialized care with X-ray, CT scan, and ultrasound services, along with a comprehensive Emergency service, consultations, and facilities typical of high-quality healthcare.

Therefore, he stated that the Health Center and High Resolution Center in Palo will settle an old debt the Andalusian healthcare system owed to the people of Málaga, especially those in the Eastern Zone of the city.

Furthermore, he mentioned that key projects would be completed this year, such as the expansion and renovation of the Costa del Sol Hospital in Marbella, the expansion of the Axarquía Hospital in Torre del Mar, and the renovation of the Onco-Hematological Day Hospital at the Virgen de la Victoria Hospital.

Also present at this event were the Minister of Health and Consumer Affairs, Rocío Hernández; the Minister of Economy, Finance, and European Funds, Carolina España, and the Mayor of Málaga, Francisco de la Torre.
