The Andalusian president, Juanma Moreno, has visited the improvement and expansion works of the La Cartuja Stadium in Seville, which have resulted in the addition of 12,000 more seats, totaling 70,000 seats in total, making it the third largest stadium in Spain after the Bernabéu and Nou Camp in Madrid and Barcelona, with the Junta investing 10 million euros of the total budget of 15 million euros.
Moreno explained that La Cartuja now has a new ring of stands, five meters lower than before, and after five months of work, Seville has the opportunity to showcase itself this Saturday with the renewed stadium for the Copa del Rey final.
He emphasized that the stadium now offers a new face and an even more powerful venue to those who witnessed last year’s Copa del Rey final here.
He emphasized that with these works, the stadium positions itself as a five-star venue, in line with its original vision, and with the capacity to host a wide range of sports, cultural, and concert events.
The President of the Junta recalled that continuous improvements have been made at the stadium since 2019, from fixing the roof to expanding the stands, along with renovations to restrooms, changing rooms, player tunnels, and better access. «All these investments and management efforts make it possible for us to have the best stadium meeting the requirements for the 2030 World Cup. Therefore, we will continue with more works, especially focusing on modernizing the complex’s access and the new facade cladding.»
