La Junta recibe 630 propuestas del sector del flamenco para el Plan Estratégico.

The Council of Government has taken note of the balance of the territorial panels held in the eight provinces for the development of the Strategic General Plan of Flamenco. Through this participatory process, in which 237 agents have participated – one-third of them artists – a total of 630 contributions from the sector have been collected to design the roadmap, as stipulated by the Flamenco Law of Andalusia.

Of the proposals received, 49% were in the flamenco heritage category, while 30% covered areas related to artistic creation and production and industries, and the remaining 21% addressed criteria and cross-cutting areas of the different flamenco fields. Specifically, there were 47 proposals from flamenco clubs, 17 from academies and schools, 91 from artistic creation and production, 158 from flamenco education, 47 from shows, 12 from festivals, 27 from research, 25 from flamenco fashion and other industries, and 30 from preservation.

Among the contributions made by artists, producers, researchers, clubs, festival directors, associations, foundations, luthiers, flamenco fashion professionals, and academies, initiatives to further professionalize the sector and enhance the presence of flamenco in education with more content and teacher training stand out.

Another proposal that emerged from these roundtable discussions is the creation of a strong business network linked to this activity through collaboration among professionals. There have also been calls for standardizing quality standards in academies and schools, and for greater professionalism in other areas such as flamenco fashion, which serves as a tool for international projection.

The recently established Flamenco Advisory Commission has been involved in the design, development, analysis, and evaluation of the resulting diagnosis from the panels with the aim of incorporating the conclusions drawn from the panelists’ work into the plan.

The provincial participatory panels began on February 5, 2025, in Huelva, and have since taken place in the other Andalusian provinces: Cadiz (February 6); Almeria (February 12); Granada (February 13); Jaen (February 19); Malaga (February 20); Cordoba (February 26); and Seville (March 5). In addition to these meetings, an online panel was held on March 19 to collect proposals from flamenco-related agents who carry out their activities outside of Andalusia.

The contributions of these agents will help shape a strategy for the external projection of the sector within the context of the Flamenco Strategic Plan, focusing on areas such as flamenco festivals and shows held outside of Andalusia, as well as education and training abroad.
