The Council of Government has taken note of the progress made to establish the Andalusian Rural and Sea Women’s Table, a collegiate body of social participation provided for in the Statute of Rural and Sea Women of Andalusia to eliminate structural, economic, administrative, and social barriers that hinder the participation of women with the same professional opportunities as men.
The Rural and Sea Women’s Table will allow their needs to be channeled in a single voice for Andalusia. This union will facilitate working together with the administration to seek specific actions that respond to their demands within the competencies of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development, the department driving this initiative.
To advance this goal, the Andalusian government recently presented a draft decree outlining the functions, composition, and operating rules of the table to seven women’s organizations. Specifically, representatives from the Federation of Rural Women’s Associations of Andalusia (Fademur), the Federation of Women’s Associations of the Rural Environment (Ceres), the Association of Rural Women Entrepreneurs of Andalusia (Aeran), the Association of Women from Agri-Food Cooperatives of Andalusia (Amcae), the Association of Families and Women of the Rural Environment (Afammer), the Andalusian Coordinator of Rural Women’s Organizations (Coamur), and the Andalusian Association of Women in Fishing (AndMuPes) attended the working meeting.
Thus, the Andalusian Government once again demonstrates its commitment to involving society in actions aimed at achieving significant goals for the autonomous community, such as real equality between women and men in the agricultural, fishing, and agri-food sector. The associative entities present at the meeting expressed their intention to actively participate with the Andalusian government in drafting the text. In this way, the contributions of associations and federations can enrich the draft decree that will serve as the basis for the official processing of the establishment of the Andalusian Rural and Sea Women’s Table.
