The Zaidín Experimental Station, dependent on the Higher Council for Scientific Research (EEZ-CSIC), is preparing to host the ‘Doctorado 360°. Beyond the doctoral thesis’ conference on April 2nd, where experts from different areas will address the diversity of professional paths in science, from research and dissemination to knowledge management and transfer.
This event is coordinated by the Vice Presidency of Scientific and Technical Research and the Postgraduate and Specialization Department of the CSIC, as detailed by this scientific center based in Granada in a press release this Tuesday about this initiative that will begin with an institutional presentation.
The objective of the conference is to «reflect on different aspects of the scientific and technical career in research centers» of the CSIC. Following the institutional presentation, the keynote address ‘How to combine research, dissemination, management, and commitment to equality. And not die in the attempt…’ will take place.
Subsequently, the Director of Postgraduate and Specialization at the CSIC, María Jesús García San Martín, will give a talk on the training opportunities at the CSIC. The two roundtable discussions scheduled will bring together research and technical staff from the council in Granada to discuss the scientific career path and its multiple facets.
The first roundtable, titled ‘Reflections on the scientific and technical career at the CSIC’, will feature experts from different centers such as the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain, the Parasitology and Biomedicine López-Neyra Institute, the School of Arab Studies, and the Andalusian Institute of Earth Sciences.
In the second roundtable, ‘The 1,001 faces of the science done at the CSIC’, staff from the Institute of Astrophysics of Andalusia will also participate, along with staff from other council centers in Granada, describing the variety of roles that their scientific and technical staff can play throughout their professional careers.
Finally, in the afternoon, a curricular workshop aimed at predoctoral, technical, and postdoctoral staff will be held, addressing the best way to «structure a curriculum and valorize academic and professional merits», all with the aim of «offering an integral vision of the scientific and technical career at the CSIC and the existing opportunities for professional development.»
