The Government Delegate in Andalusia and candidate for the General Secretary of the PSOE in Granada, Pedro Fernández, stated this Tuesday in Motril, on the Costa Tropical, that he trusts that there can be a unified candidacy to lead this party in the province «with a very important municipalist weight» after maintaining contacts «responsibly at all times» to promote it.
He pointed this out in response to questions from the media before speaking as the Government Delegate in Andalusia at the Business Circle of the Association of Entrepreneurs of the Costa Tropical about the future of infrastructure on the Granada coast.
This Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., the deadline for the presentation of pre-candidacies closes, and the former socialist councilor in Salar, Rosario Cantón, has called the media to a press conference at 6:00 p.m. at the provincial headquarters of the PSOE where she will inform if she finally presents her pre-candidacy, as she announced at the beginning of this month of February that she would, in the same week when Fernández stated he was «available» to the party when asked by the media about this issue.
When asked this Tuesday in Motril about the contacts he has maintained to ensure that there could be a single candidacy, Fernández indicated that he has done so «responsibly at all times» specifically with «men and women who are absolutely prepared and who at a certain moment have thought and believe that they can perfectly lead this new project for the next four years of the PSOE» in Granada.
«The truth is that we have a very similar vision, practically identical regarding the project,» with a vision of «revitalization» and «impulse» of it, generating «new institutional spaces that come from the elections that are to come» and working «with a very important municipalist weight and in that sense there is agreement.»
In this context, Fernández has expressed confidence that this Tuesday «there will only be one candidacy» led by him, «but obviously out of prudence,» he has asked journalists to allow him until «7:01 p.m. to verify that the situation has indeed occurred.»
Asked about the importance he would give to the coastal region in his team, he indicated that this part of the province is «fundamental» as it «has a weight along with the metropolitan area and the city of Granada as one of the most powerful and strong.».
The Costa Tropical has «a different singularity, it is a region that has its own idiosyncrasy» and its «own productive sectors» and infrastructure, and for all this, it requires «public officials who have a lot of weight, of course, in all decision-making bodies» of the party, Fernández concluded.
