El PCT Cartuja inicia proceso para licitar transporte colectivo

The Parque Científico y Tecnológico Cartuja (PCT Cartuja), an entity dependent on the Ministry of University, Research, and Innovation, will undertake a series of actions in the coming months, within the framework of a global project of Public Procurement of Innovation (PPI), to implement measures aimed at making the park a decarbonized, sustainable, and energy self-sufficient facility, in line with the objectives of the eCitySevilla initiative. One of the first actions will be the implementation of an intelligent collective mobility system.

To implement this transport pilot system, the PCT Cartuja has already taken the first step, which is the publication of the preliminary market consultation, where interested parties can submit proposals until May 26th at the following address: The preliminary market consultations aim to provide the contracting authority (in this case, the company Parque Científico y Tecnológico Cartuja, S.A.) with the necessary information to define the technical specifications of a future tender. This tender has an allocated budget of 3.75 million euros, which will be provided by the Ministry.

The department led by José Carlos Gómez Villamandos has allocated a total of 19.8 million euros, through the FEDER Andalucía 2021-2027 Program, to twelve PPI actions for the eCitySevilla project, including, in addition to the collective transport pilot, the implementation of an intelligent lighting system or a shared energy self-consumption service.

The recently published preliminary market consultation aims to identify and gather innovative solutions in the field of sustainable mobility, to meet current and future internal mobility needs within the PCT Cartuja. The park aims to implement zero-emission and high-tech transport systems within the facility, with the goal of becoming a European benchmark in terms of mobility and respect for green areas.

The call is open and is addressed to individuals, legal entities, public or private, individually or in a consortium.

After analyzing the received proposals, the PCT Cartuja will carry out a public procurement to implement sustainable mobility pilots, which could become permanent collective transport systems in the short and medium term.

The received proposals will be used to assess the market’s capabilities to provide innovative and sustainable solutions to the identified needs, as well as to obtain the necessary information to define administrative, functional, and technical specifications that can be achieved through Public Procurement of Innovation or another public procurement procedure.

The PCT Cartuja is confident of a high participation of companies, research centers, engineering firms, or transport operators, as the facility has established itself as a top-level urban laboratory capable of extrapolating sustainable innovations to other areas or cities.

The Sevillian scientific and technological park hosts 567 companies, generating direct employment for 29,538 workers and a combined economic activity of 4,850 million euros. Around 40,000 people visit this facility daily, including employees, students, visitors, and other users. This volume, combined with the extension of the facility, which occupies most of the Isla de la Cartuja in Seville, makes it a very suitable testing ground for the implementation of a new intelligent collective transport system.
