Condes de Gabia presenta ‘Entornos cruzados’ de Eva Fernández Díaz

The Ático Hall of the Palace of the Counts of Gabia has welcomed the summer season with the exhibition ‘Crossed Environments’, an individual show by the young artist from Malaga, Eva Fernández Díaz. The collection can be visited for free from June 6 to September 21 during the regular opening hours of this space.

In this exhibition, Eva Fernández Díaz presents her most recent pictorial work, the result of a deep reflection on the interaction between humans and the animal world. Through surreal compositions, the artist explores «how animals, deprived of their natural habitats, intrude into domestic and everyday spaces, transforming conventional still lifes into living landscapes that oscillate between still nature and dreamlike scenarios,» as detailed by the County Council in a press release this Monday.

Fernández Díaz’s technique, influenced by ‘collage’, combines changes in scale and diverse pictorial registers to construct visual narratives that invite the viewer to immerse themselves in her work.

In the words of art critic Lola Alba, as collected in the exhibition catalog, «Eva Fernández’s painting, in a magical way, leads us to reflect on how we have taken the environment away from animals.» Thus, she describes the pieces as «full of life and transformation, conveying a message of hope about the balance between nature and humanity.»

Among the protagonists of these works, lions, ibexes, squirrels, and butterflies stand out, sharing space with everyday objects such as teapots, vases, and photo frames. This coexistence of elements creates a visual clash that leads the viewer to question the human impact on the environment and the urgent need to restore the lost balance.
