Ciclo de cine de época en el Teatro Romano de Itálica para disfrutar el verano
The Ministry of Culture and Sports has launched, as part of its summer cultural programming, the summer cinema cycle ‘Itálica de cine. Historias eternas’ at the Roman Theater of the Archaeological Ensemble of Itálica. Every Friday and Saturday, from July 18 to August 16 at 10:00 p.m., empires, myths, heroes, fighters, and legends will come to life in the lineup of scheduled films.
The cycle, suitable for all audiences, will begin on July 18 with the screening of the film ‘Gladiator’ (2000). Members of the Roman Centuria of Santiponce and a hundred residents of the town dressed as Romans will attend. After a parade through the Plaza de la Constitución of the town, they will arrive at the Roman Theater of Itálica in a procession that will recall the ceremonial processions that took place in this imperial city, especially during the time of Emperor Hadrian.
The Minister of Culture and Sports, Patricia del Pozo, has emphasized that this parade will be a unique opportunity to join the Italic colonists and experience firsthand the festive atmosphere of ancient Rome. She also noted that the cycle ‘Itálica de cine. Historias eternas’, «in addition to being a proposal designed for audiences of all ages to enjoy summer nights in a magical place steeped in history, will serve to commemorate the feats that have helped shape our understanding of the past as we know it today.»
