The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, received the Copa del Rey de Fútbol from Jesús Navas and Joaquín Sánchez at the Palacio de San Telmo. The trophy will be on display for public viewing until the following Saturday. Moreno also inaugurated the exhibition ‘Los Reyes de la Copa’ in San Telmo to bring citizens closer to the history, emotions, and protagonists of this competition.
The Copa del Rey represents more than just a triumph, as Moreno emphasized. He described it as a symbol of emotion, surprise, heroism, and celebration, especially in the small towns and cities where legendary Spanish clubs visit. Moreno expressed his gratitude to the Real Federación Española de Fútbol for showcasing the many significant events they have been a part of.
The upcoming final between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona is anticipated to be the most iconic match in global football, with the two clubs having a combined total of over 50 Copa del Rey titles. Moreno highlighted Sevilla as the perfect location for this highly anticipated event, emphasizing the city’s rich football tradition.
He extended good wishes to the two teams and encouraged citizens to enjoy the spectacle, especially with the game being held at the recently expanded Estadio La Cartuja, now the third-largest stadium in Spain with 70,000 seats. Moreno emphasized that the improvements made to the stadium have elevated it to a new level of modernity and suitability for hosting major events.
Looking ahead to the future, Moreno mentioned that La Cartuja will be one of the venues for the 2030 World Cup, expressing confidence in its continued role as a hub for national football teams. He emphasized the significance of the final match, where Sevilla and Andalucía will once again showcase themselves as key players in the football world.
The ceremony was attended by the Consejera de Cultura y Deporte, Patricia del Pozo, and the president of the Real Federación Española de Fútbol, Rafael Louzán.
