Agentes participan en Ley de Turismo Sostenible para desafíos del sector

The Tourism and Foreign Affairs Councillor of the Andalusian Government, Arturo Bernal, has stated that the Draft Law on Sustainable Tourism addresses the challenges and opportunities of the tourism industry with over 180 industry participants, while also highlighting the academic work to boost the Andalusian industry.
He emphasized this during his speech in Malaga at the opening of the seventh edition of the San Telmo Business Peñarroya Tourism Chair Seminar, where the trends in the tourism market, strategies for adapting to the future, and emerging tourism segments are discussed.
«Andalusia is a leader and still has enormous potential for the tourism sector. Tourism has been, is, and must continue to be one of the main sources of economic and social development for Spain and Andalusia, and for that, it is essential to have spaces like this chair, where the public-private collaboration and inter-administrative cooperation are fundamental,» he explained.
According to the Councillor, collaboration is key to consolidating the leadership of the tourism industry, which already represents 12% of Andalusia’s GDP and accounts for 12.3% of employment, in a context where the region has seen the lowest unemployment rate in the last 17 years.
«Andalusia is talent, future, and opportunities, characteristics that tourism also shares,» Bernal insisted, emphasizing the importance of analyzing trends, opportunities, and challenges, an exercise carried out by the Tourism and Foreign Affairs Department alongside professionals, entrepreneurs, municipalities, provincial councils, and citizens, among others.
In this regard, to drive progress in the sector, the Councillor cited the Draft Law on Sustainable Tourism as an example, whose processing has already begun. «Tourism will be sustainable or it will not be, and Andalusia is positioning itself to lead this new model through this updated regulation,» he explained.
Aligned with current demands and challenges, he detailed that the new regulation contributes to the strengthening of the sector, ensuring its sustainability, enhancing its competitiveness, and advancing its digitization. «Undoubtedly, a law with a future vision, designed to anticipate the challenges and opportunities that tourism will face in the coming years,» he emphasized.
Sustainable and Regenerative Growth
«A regulation that consolidates tourism designed for everyone, that cares for, preserves, and ensures that future generations can enjoy each of the treasures that Andalusia has to offer, following the Andalusian path of Juanma Moreno as a management model to follow, with respect, moderation, and dialogue,» he said.
Arturo Bernal highlighted that Andalusia is once again proving that it is possible to «grow sustainably, intelligently, and with a positive impact on society, and with a respectful and regenerative tourism; ultimately, continuing to generate opportunities for all Andalusians.»
«This regulation demonstrates that, in the face of the challenges of tourism, we are working to provide solutions to the needs of Andalusians. That is why I ask you not to leave us alone in this task, because we build the future of tourism in our land together, and you are essential in this task,» he concluded.
