A total of 518 entrepreneurs have participated in the twelfth edition of the ‘Emprendemos Awards’, an initiative promoted by the Ministry of University, Research, and Innovation, through Andalucía Emprende, to recognize, support, and give visibility to the most innovative companies in Andalusia, both recently established and those with up to five years of existence. The candidates have submitted a total of 268 companies, which will be evaluated in different phases based on the innovation they apply to their activities, their growth potential, and their social, economic, or environmental impact. Additionally, their contribution to society will be considered in terms of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

These firms have been created by 518 entrepreneurial individuals, with the majority profile being male (299 in total, representing 57.72% of the total), with an age range between 36 and 50 years old (220 individuals, accounting for 42.47%). They are followed by individuals under 35 years old (218, 42.08%), of which 80 (15.44%) are over 51 years old. 49% of them have university degrees (254).

Regarding employment positions, the companies competing for these awards have a total of 825 employees, of which 307 are employed.

In terms of legal form, the majority of the 268 candidate companies are limited liability companies, with a total of 124, representing 46.26%, followed by companies formed by self-employed individuals (118, 44.02%). The rest are made up of cooperatives and labor limited liability companies (26, 9.70%).

Most of the companies are engaged in professional scientific and technical activities, with a total of 63 (24%), followed by the service sector (10%), artistic activities (10%), and educational activities (10%). Communications, commerce, and manufacturing industries each represent 9%, while agricultural and healthcare companies each account for 4%. The remaining companies are distributed among the construction, hospitality, transportation, supply, real estate, and organizational activities sectors.

The highest number of applications come from Jaén (48), followed by Cádiz (44), Granada (42), Sevilla (40), Málaga (28), Huelva (25), Córdoba (24), and Almería (17).

Upcoming Phases

The 268 submitted applications will first compete in the provincial phase of the awards, where territorial juries composed of entrepreneurs and influential business experts in finance will select the top 50 during the months of May and June. All of them will receive the ‘TOP50’ seal at the regional gala event to be held in Almería on June 26. The winner of this edition will be chosen from among them, receiving a financial prize of 5,000 euros, sponsored by MicroBank.

Additionally, an award will be given to the best-rated company in each of the Andalusian provinces, and the ‘Top50’ will have preferential access to participate in benchmark events with corporations and startups where Andalucía Emprende collaborates, both at the local, national, and international levels, as well as to free business accommodation services in their over 800 warehouses and offices to assist entrepreneurs in the early stages of their business.
